Life is Customize-able

I hold a firm belief that chocolate will fix anything.

My husband likes white chocolate. I like dark chocolate.
He likes caramel, and I like fudge.

He can take ALL the cookies and cream and Snickers he wants, and I am happy with a double fudge brownie or dark chocolate and hazelnut bar.

This actually works out really well for us because then we don't have to share.
(But don't worry, he's a really good sharer)

How wonderful is it that life is customize-able. We can order different things at a restaurant that make us individually satisfied. We can pick up different hobbies and interests, different careers, different clothing styles, makeup choices, favorite foods, places to live, etc. and that. is. beautiful.

I think so often we naturally crave a fix-all solution. We want a one-time, all-encompassing, works-for-everyone answer.

But that's just not how life goes.

The brand of makeup that looks fantastic on her, may not work for your skin. Even if you both have the same general skin-type. Being active and outdoors might make you happy, but not him. Just because that Chinese restaurant is your favorite, doesn't mean it actually is the best in town. She might like the small town, while he might like the big city.

And all of these opinions are usually formed with very justified reasons.

In addition to what to have for dessert or what makeup brand to choose, we are constantly searching for answers to success, happiness, and other intrinsic values. There are many ways to have good customer service, or to find joy, or to achieve a goal. I believe that there are a lot of things that work, and a lot of things that you can try, but there is never just one answer.

So often we wish that we could see the blue-prints. We want to know what is going to happen next, or what the lesson is that we are supposed to be learning, or how to  face a certain trial or situation, or how to feel successful, etc.

But the lessons are effective because we don't get to see the blue prints. Life is exciting and adventurous because we don't have a clue what is going on or what will happen next. It is also really hard for those same reasons, but the ups and downs are what make life so beautiful.

So even though chocolate is the answer to most questions, I'll let you customize your own dessert.
